Thank goodness the fire out by us was put out about 1:00 a.m. the next morning, but we continue to have fires all around us. Oregon is having there share too, it has cooled off for us a lot with the wind blowing the smoke away. I think it only got to 89 today so it was perfect time to paint the deck and do yard work. We have been getting so much done lately and it feels so good, the yard took a big beating and I was just not into cleaning up for awhile. But with the cool weather this is the deck we started.
We could never use the back deck because of the winds we get through this little canyon. My swing would wind up all the way around the other side of the deck! So it never got used and now its so torn to shreds. We painted this deck a long time ago and it just started to peel off about 2 months after we painted it. We even put primer down first and it came off too, we were none to happy with this local paint shop and that's a whole other story I won't bore you with. We are sanding the rest off now and we found this wonder paint from BEHR that looks like a stain but is Acrylic!! Wash's off your hands real easy and has a 15 year warranty! And you can put it over old paint and its sticking like crazy!! It's only taking two coats too. (joy!) A little advise here - don't ever let your home go this far down hill or you will pay for it two fold in the end.
Front porch is coming along, can you see my fake flower? Nikki thought it was beautiful and I was going to put it in a pot and fake her out but she caught me. :(
And of course my infamous welcoming sign. (we get so many of them!)

We had a fire this weekend too. It only burned about 50 acres but it was a very scary fire. My husband is a firefighter and said this fire had all the worst conditions he has seen in 32 years. It jumped the road on one side and a creek on another side and headed up a steep hill on another side FAST. Thankfully they jumped on it with 3 helicopters and 3 bomber planes. And a bunch of land attacks. We were luck.
The day it hit 109 degrees here, the woods next to mine caught on fire. Scared me to death. Even more so when 6 hours later the arson squad rang my bell and said it looked like arson and they say a young man running from the fire into my woods. So we are really vigilant now. Those poor fireman worked for six+ hours in that heat because someone did that. I am so glad yours is out. Sharon
